*I can go out and shoot any video you would like to see of the following horses. Tons of pictures are available also*.
Last Farrier Visit: March 16, 2007. All horses for sale on this page will stand politely for the farrier. They are all up to date on worming and vaccinations as well.
All of the horses I have for sale are friendly and well-mannered and do not have any vices.
1. *Curly Joe: aka "Cheetoe". DOB 4/16/1996
Curly Joe is a wonderful family pony, but he must be sold. He is well-broke and easy to catch. He would make a great horse for light trail riding, light trot work and lead-line. He was origionally a western pony. He must wear shoes on his front feet. Cheetoe is around 14.1 hands high. He is registered.

2. *Midnight Siouxvenir: DOB 5/1/02 *DCC Sioux Warrior X *McK Mandy
Midnight is a beautiful grey over black gelding that was foaled here on the farm. We intended to keep him and eventually use him for lessons. Circumstances have not allowed me to do much more than halter break him and start his ground work (longing and driving), and sit on him a few times, and so I am offering him for sale to a home that will spend time with him and give him the attention he deserves. Midnight is registered. He is also a gelding.

3. Star Siouxvenir: DOB 4/16/02 *DCC Sioux Warrior X Peanut
Star is such a sweet little mare. She is halter broke and will follow you around like she is your shadow. I have not had time to do much more than do a little longe work and sit on her. Once she finishes her training, I am confident that she will make a wonderful child's pony and an exceptional pony club mount. Her price will go up as her training increases, so you better snatch her up quickly before I decide to keep her. She stands somewhere around 14.1 hands high. Although she looks straight and is registered as such, she shows hypoallergenic qualities and sports a ruffled look in her winter coat, which you can see in the picture below.

4. Mighty Mischevious Warrior: DOB 10/?/2003 *DCC Sioux Warrior X Peanut
Doesn't his name say it all? He is such a ham! In your back pocket friendly and willing to do anything you ask of him. Again, circumstances have been such that I haven't been able to get him under saddle. He would make a great pair with his sister who is listed above. You can also see him looking at us in the above picture. I never got around to registering him, and I know I have his exact birth date recorded somewhere (my records are packed in a box since we moved). He does show hypoallergenic qualities just like his sister, and did show a lot of foal curl, but has outgrown it with the exception of some frizzy looking ears and a ruffled pattern over his flank. He can be registered with ICHO. He is gelded.

5. Warrior Stands Strong aka "Chewie": DOB 2/22 /06 *DCC Sioux Warrior X Peanut
Reduced Price! It's been raining, raining, raining, and I haven't been able to put as much time as I expected into him, so I have drastically reduced his price hoping he will find a good home where he will get lots of love and attention. Chewie as we call him was not named for Chewbacca, but was nicknamed because he chewed on everything while he was teething. He's a real looker, friendly, yet a bit fiesty. He's not vicious by any means, he just has energy. He is grey of course, and also a gelding. We are working on halter - breaking him right now, if it will quit raining and dry out long enough for us to get into the pasture before he forgets what a halter is that is.

6. *DCC Sioux Warrior: DOB 7/18/98 *Warrior's Big Sioux X *Schimm'l Von Krauseln
I am sad to say that I have to part with this beautiful stallion. He became a part of my life when he was just four months old, so he is dear to my heart. However I must sell him so this is your chance to own a gorgeous and well-mannered stallion that is proven to sire exceptional foals. Please see Warrior's statistic page to learn more about him. He did have 30 days of professional training when he was a three year old. I am sure that he would pick right up where we left off given the chance.

Deer Creek Farms sends all horses to the new owner in good condition. We provide vaccination records, proof of a negative Coggins, a Health Certificate for travel, and any other procedures or documents that are required by law. If you as the buyer request any other tests, checks, or procedures that are not required by law, you will be financially responsible for them. (Some examples are (but not limited to) examination of the reproductive tract, *culture and sensitivity, X-rays, flexion tests. . .).
*We do have broodmares cultured when the veterinarian reccommends it at the start of the breeding season and will provide proof of that negative culture to you if the mare you wish to purchase was cultured. If you require a more recent culture, you will be responsible for the expense.
What does a Curly Horse Need?
So, exactly what does a curly horse need? Here is a list of truths and tales for you.
1. So you heard that they are usually hardy and trouble free? True! You have heard that they require virtually no care? False! Curlies are usually very hardy and trouble free. But that doesn't mean you can neglect them, it just means that they don't require as much "pampering".
2. Curlies need plenty of grass hay and fresh water. True.
3. They don't need grain. False. Depending on your curly horse's metabolism and exercise level, he may need grain to stay in good condition.
4. Curlies don't need a shelter. False! Although they are quite hardy, they should be provided with at least a run-in shed to get out of inclement weather. They don't necessarily need to be in a stall 24/7 (what horse does?). But they do need shelter.
5. Curly horses react to vaccinations and/or dewormers, so you shouldn't vaccinate or deworm. False! Curlies need to be kept current on vaccinations and be on a good parasite control program.
6. Curlies have hard hooves. True (there are a few exceptions). They don't need shoes. False! Although the majority of curlies have hard feet and are kept barefoot, some do require shoes. Shoeing should be based on individual needs, not a generalized assumption.
7. Curlies don't need their hooves trimmed. False! You bet they need regular farrier care. A few are self-trimmers. But to keep those hard feet healthy and well-balanced, you should have your horse's feet trimmed every 6-8 weeks barefoot and if shod, every 4-6 weeks.
8. Curlies have wonderful temperments, and are great horses for the family. True, true, true!
Items from the tackroom. Buyer pays shipping cost, unless you live around here. If you live around here, I'll meet you in a crowded place somewhere o.k.?
Shipping is by USPS if you don't live around here, just because I have no clue where the nearest Fed Ex, UPS, or DHL is located. Postage is whatever the Postal service charges for whatever type of shipping you want, just give me a zip code. I think they offer parcel, first class, overnight, etc.
*I have too many saddles! This one is a Collegiate 16 1/2 inch close contact saddle. I believe it has a narrow tree. Great condition. Has a water spot on the seat where the old tack room leaked on it, but I keep it in the new tack room and it is oiled nicely. Has IHSA stamp on it. I will send it to the new owner with stirrups and leathers. More pictures available. $250.00 price reduced.
*Cavalier Boots: Tall dress boots. Mint/like new condition. Size 6 1/2. Measurements: heel to toe, 10", Widest part of sole is just shy of 3.5 ". They are 19.5 inches tall (including the heel) and 12 inches around the calf area. I bought them online and didn't get a chance to wear them and now they don't fit in the calf. I need a 12 1/2. $70.00
*Semi-custom Field boots: These were my first boots. They have worn well. I had them support stitched over the toe because the stitching started coming loose on one boot. Otherwise they have been well-cared for and are in great shape. They are a size 6 1/2, 19 inches tall (see, already broken in) and 12 inches around the calf area. (See a pattern? My calves got big after childbirth I guess.) I've kept them for sentimental reasons, but I guess they really need to go. They were pretty darn expensive when we bought them new. $100.00
*Pair of 24 Long Millers Show breeches. Origionally $135.00. I ordered them on sale. I have two other pair of long breeches, but I guess long has taken on a new meaning these days. I got them and tried them on and they are too long. I don't want to pay shipping to send them back. How about. . . my mistake, your gain? $40.00 they still have the tags. . .I'll get better pictures when I get my actual digital camera back. I had to take these with the video camera.
*Pair of Children's large jodpurs. Drawstring. Cuffs at bottom. Has USPC approved label. My student probably wore them less than 5 times and outgrew them. I guess I could wear them, they fit me, but they show the belly button. How scary would that be? $10.00. Again, video camera quality pictures. Better photos coming.
*O-ring snaffle bit. Five inches. So I'm lazy and don't want to put a rubber guard on it so it doesn't have the potential to pinch. It's a slightly fat bit. $5.00
*Pair of grey western suede chaps with fringe. Extra small. I wore them when my hips were 30". I am 5' 3" give or take so they would fit a petite (short) person. I forgot what I paid, anyone want to make a reasonable offer? Zippers work, no stains, buckles work. Stitching is in excellent condition. . .
I have to get up into the loft. I think I have extra halters and things too. So I might have more items listed soon.
*Excalibur Brand camper shell. Fits full-sized Ford Pickup bed. This camper has been housed inside a storage barn. We took it out for better light for the picture. Awesome condition. Price quote available soon! (Just call us and ask)
